These matching twin shutters were copied from the only original shutter remaining in this Georgian Townhouse. All mouldings and details are hand-made and build in the same way in which the originals would have been, as no modern machines or cutters would have been able to produce the correct finish. It’s these finer details that are noticed. The client went to a lot of trouble stripping back the layers of paint from the original shutter to expose the details of hinge placements and even scars where a bell would have hung as a very early period burglar alarm!
My reproduction of this shutter has embellished all these original features to compliment the style of the house. The client was delighted with the finished product, which not only looks attractive but gives her added privacy, blocks out road noise and insulates the rooms.
